Despite the definite differences between each and every individual, there is one common goal that everybody shares and that’s happiness. Whether we seek happiness through accolades, money, or service from others, the end game is definite and that’s happiness. We all want to be happy and spend our lives trying to achieve and maintain a certain level of happiness and satisfaction. One of the major factors that affects an individual’s happiness is their connection to their partner. The importance of a healthy relationship is responsible for an individual’s happiness. If someone has a happy and healthy relationship with their partner, they are going to be a physically as well as emotionally healthier individual. Sometimes there are situations where both partners are working, but in different shifts. Even if they work in the same shift, they get so exhausted after a work loaded day that spending some quality time with their loved one doesn’t get any place in their mind. It doesn’t matter how much you know each other, but with time there will be something new to explore including their changing interests, passion, aspirations and even friends or foes. Deep communication and some quality time together plays a major role in maintaining a healthy relationship, thus preventing it from becoming boring.

2. KEEP REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS:

In a real healthy relationship, people have realistic expectations about how they are treated in a relationship. They expect to be treated with kindness, love, affection, and respect. They do not tolerate any kind of emotional or physical abuse. They expect their partner to be loyal and most importantly trust is the pillar of your relationship. So these are some of the realistic expectations an individual must have in a relationship. Partners do not have unrealistic demands from one another and they do not look for their partner for feelings of worthiness. This gives each partner a space to maintain a sense of own being, room to move towards each other in times when you need and the freedom to take your own decisions without that fear of what effect will it have on the relationship.

6. FIGHT FAIR:

There is no relationship in this world which do not have arguments and conflicts. As a relationship includes two individuals with different personalities and when both disagree on something then it gives rise to arguments and conflicts but it doesn’t mean that you don’t love each other or you don’t want to stay together anymore. It’s always important to have a fair fight to keep your relationship healthy and going. For this:

  • Cool down before talking: The conversation becomes more productive when you have it with your emotions cooled off and with a cool head. So that you don’t say something harsh that hurts your partner and you regret it later.
  • Share your perception: Use "I" statements to share how you feel and what you want without blaming your partner. When you use "I" statements, it helps to convey your emotions better to your partner which makes it easy to understand and clear.
  • Keep a clear, specific and nonviolent language: Try to have a clear specific and nonviolent conversation so that you can convey your perception and emotion more clearly to one another. Always have nonviolent communication as it promotes a healthy relationship. When you verbally attack your partner then it hurts them and it may lead to conflicts in the relationship 
  • Take responsibility of your mistakes: It’s very easy to blame upon others but for a healthy relationship you need to take responsibility of your mistakes and apologize for it. When you take responsibility of your mistakes and apologize then it goes a long way toward setting things in a right manner.

7. DISCUSS ABOUT YOUR FUTURE:

When you discuss the purpose of your relationship and future of your relationship then it makes your bond strong. It gives a sense of security and certainty to both the individuals regarding their relationship. It also makes your relationship clear and purposeful.
